Mr. Murphy,
While I am talking to you about this, since you are using a surround sound system, make sure you go in to the Menu on the Comcast remote and select Setup. You want to confirm that the audio settings on the cable box is set to surround sound. There are several different ways to wire this up.. but as stated earlier.. unfortunately there is not a code that will work with the Comcast remote to control the volume on the surround sound system.
I wish there was more I could offer to you.

This was truly thoughtful of Mr. St. John. I'm OK with it until he said "...unfortunately there is not a code that will work with the Comcast remote to control the volume on the surround sound system. He had earlier said, "…the answer is no it will only control the audio for the TV not the surround sound to your home entertainment center.
